Chintakaya/Raw/ Green tamarind Charu

Chintakaya pesara papu charu/green tamarind moong dal sambar

ingredients:onion,green chilly,green onion,ginger and garlic ,curry leaves, chintakaya/green tamarind and pesarapappu/moong dal

ingredients :

Chintakaya/green tamarind - 5 - 6 nos
Pesarapappu/Moong Dal - 1/4 cup
Green Mirchi - 5- 6 nos
Onion - 1 medium
Ginger and Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
Green Onion - 1
Karivepaku/curry leaves - 10 nos

Method :

Cook chintakaya/green tamarind in water and take 4 to 5 cups of juice from cooked chintakaya/green tamarind.
pressure cook dal ,mash it,Keep it aside.
In a big vessel, take 1 tsp of oil. On medium heat, do the popu or tadka(fry mustard seeds, cumin and curry leaves). Add onions,Green Mirchi, saute until soft and lightly browned,
Now add ginger garlic paste ,turmeric powder,Green onions. Saute few more minutes.
add cooked moong dal/pesara pappu, cook it for 6-8 minutes.
Now add tamarind water , bring to boil , let medium flame for about 10 to 15 minutes. Just before turning off the heat, garnish with finely chopped cilantro and serve with rice/idli.
